John Beirne, a parishioner of St Joseph's Fishponds, Bristol is attempting to walk the Via De La Plata and the Camino Sanabres from Seville to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.

The pilgrimage is 1,000 kms(600miles) long. Its starts on 18th April from St James Priory in Bristol and the next day John will set out from Seville Cathedral and hopes to finish his walk at the Cathedral of Santiago(St James) in about 8 weeks.

This pilgrimage, we hope, will give us an opportunity to raise some funds for the outstanding work of rehabilitation carried out St James' House, beside the church in central Bristol and also for the charity "Bath Life House".

All the money donated will go to these two good causes.

Please could you donate by the kilometre so that "if the flesh is weaker than the spirit" some money will still be raised.

1p per kilometre equals £10 if the whole 1,000 kms is completed.
